Friends and Milestones

Up until today, it's been totally springtime ! This morning it's snowing !! But -- to be expected at this time of year - as I have seen snow on my birthday (mid-may) several times in my lifetime.

OYY Little 'Z' has been making so much progress in her training ! What a gal--- curly, beautiful and smart. She walks out on loose rein if so desired... loves the bridge - which goes to prove she'll be an awesome trail mount. She's got a good hind end that she knows how to use.

She has begun trotting some smaller circles and figure 8's.. and her big milestone -- 'Z' has trotted down to the big ring by herself to work there ! Quiet, steady, and fun to ride.. 'Z' will make someone an awesome show horse or trail mount... at 15 hands now, she's just the right size.

Good breeding + solid training = super best friend !!

Video collection of 'Z' s work this week.

'Z' has a full brother - OYY Hollis Brown. Hollis - a 14.2 hand 3 year old gelding - has had ground work here and there during his short life - now full time preparations for saddle training. He's a handsome loving fellow - ready to please.

Is he a handsome boy or what ?
Just like his sister - he also loves the bridge.
'Z' and Hollis are maternal siblings to OYY Elektra. Nice family **

I have been remiss in posting any news of the wonderful Top O' The Hill Farm Labradoodle puppies !! The litter was born in March -- 2 born March 1st, 6 born March 2nd. They are growing fast -- incredibly intelligent... Mom - OYY India (full blood champion line poodle) is an excellent mother. First born, they are a squirming mass of legs and tails.

Yesterday -- they were exploring the yard... Their big milestone was running all the way from the house to the barn and back.

Now here is the ultimate in best friend :)
Dad is yellow Labrador with OFA hip clearance 'good' and champ lines for pointing.... OYY Sokokis Valley Nicodemus is a natural retriever and what an outstanding temperament.

Speaking of best friends -- Susan Lejonhud from Maine (also owner/rider of a curly) was here a few weeks back with her female yellow Labrador for breeding to Nicodemus. I am hoping we'll have little Nic-labs in Maine soon :) Susan is also a board member of Dream On Curls Riding Center and one of our greatest supporters and helpers at various fund-raising functions. I always say - with a friend like Susan -- you don't need much else ! :) Her son was taking a photo of us, but accidentally took a video instead..... now we have a little souvenir of our friendship.

The snow has now turned over to rain -- but it's still off to work....

Enjoy ~

Your pups are beautiful with their whiskery litle faces, and Z is gorgeous. I love her kind eye. Hey! Are we cute, or what? I will keep you posted on Ruby's progress. Tonight she will be practicing some retrieves during The Lab Girls first 2010 get together.
