More New Trail Discoveries

December arrived as a total surprise to me ! All of sudden, it's almost the end of the year. We have had snow only once - other than some spitting now and then. PLENTY OF RAIN though .. wow. Yesterday - after a night of torrential water pouring from the skies... the clouds cleared off and the sun was strong. We had a double rainbow - but I missed the photo opportunity ... just caught the tail end of the prism as a cloud passed across the morning sun.

Within an hour - the skies changed from brilliant blue, back to dark and cloudy - and then the earth began to heat up, cause the fog to roll in.

Here are the ponies waiting for breakfast -

The birches were bent with the weight of raindrops. We are fortunate this storm was rain and not ice --

Morning horse shadows in the fog. What a day ! It's the third day of December and I am shedding layers.

On the First of December, Zoe and I went out for a super ride with Keri and Teasel where we discovered all kinds of new trail we have never known was there ! We headed down into North Springfield past the "school bus garage" and up onto the snowmobile trail there. Past the Industrial Park, onto Fairbanks Road and sneaked past the gates at the end of the road - marked Authorized.
We found a few trails off to the right -- we need to return for more research; but today we are focused on our proposed mission. According to the Gazateer, the trail from this sign is going to take us to the end of Graham Road -- which will make a perfect loop for us.
The batteries in my camera today ended up being dead, so not much for photo's.. but our expedition turned out to be quite a challenge... we were quite determined and had to do a lot of bushwhacking, over stone walls, through thick over grown trees and brush... over here, over there-- I would not have been able to snap much for pics anyway. We finally did find our way - got on a trail - but ended up NOT where we thought we were headed !! By this time - we are both COLD.. the wind and air are bitter and raw - but committed to the goal.. we continued on. We were in the saddle over 3 hours and by the time we found our way to the end of Graham Road by touring many paths and trails... we had remained within a 7 mile radius from home. We covered a lot oground but didn't really get very far ! However-- LOADS of fun. And we discovered so many places we want to return to. I am sure over time we can perfect the route and incorparate it into a beautiful couple of loops for trotting out.
This week - until the 5th - there is a hiatus from hunting. On Saturday.. Muzzle Loader starts.. so it's back to just road trotting for us. We are trail trotting as much as we can this week !
Enjoy ~
