Riding with Jelly

We have a volunteer here to help out at the riding center who is the sister of Jenni... Jenni used to volunteer until she got a job -- Now, her younger sister Kelly comes to help out. She likes to ride in between lessons if there is time or when a lesson is cancelled. Sometimes she takes a lesson on Winter Dancer.

When she first starting coming to help, I called her Jenni all the time by mistake... she is so good natured about it. She said lots of people do that and suggested I call her Jelly. :) Well, as soon as that got into my mind, I was cured of calling her Jenni.

Here's Kelly taking a lesson on Dancer - after some time in the indoor, she heads down the driveway to the big ring for some trotting.

We suggested to Kelly that she ride Dancer out with us on some trail next time. It's always great to give the lesson horses some "time out" for enjoyment and it will be good for Kelly too as a rider.

I am atop Keri of course- Zoe is riding Luna. Luna is looking at something here -

Here's what she sees. Dancer does not seem interested. This turkey group wanders the roads. You never know when they are going to pop up.

This is the week of No Hunting - so we are able to trot trail.

Keri thinks for a minute that she is the bigwig here on the trail.. way ahead.

Luna has not been out on trail since winter before last ! Dancer loves trail - and while Keri is busy taking assisting in the photo shoot- Dancer is taking the lead.

The trail is wet due to all the rain we've had in the past weeks and months.. instead of a nice carpet of leaves - there is a carpet of water.

Luna's turn to be leader.

Here's where we exit out into a big field. We are always cautious here - so many times we come upon a big herd of deer grazing. I think they are all hunkered down in hiding though from hunters.

Dancer is a wonderful mare- and she loves having a rider of her "own". She is on the sale list-- only because she will blossom more in a home of her own.

The end of the ride - and Dancer is a little tired ! Ready to head back for a nap.
